A Dark and Silly Night!

The Opening reception and exhibit for Art
Spiegelman and Francoise Mouly's
LITTLE LIT IT WAS A DARK AND SILLY NIGHT

Thursday, December 4, 6-8 PM
MoCCA Headquarters
32 Union Square East, Suite 600
(Take the north/left elevators), N.Y.C.

Art Spiegelman and Francoise Mouly explore the art of storytelling in their new collection of comics for kids, LITTLE LIT IT WAS A DARK AND SILLY NIGHT. In this, their third collection in the acclaimed, New York Times best-selling Little Lit series, Spiegelman and Mouly asked celebrated comic artists and master storytellers to finish the sentence "It was a dark and silly night..." with a story in comic strip form. The result is a fantasy-rich collection of cartoons, stories and games that will inspir children of all ages to tell their own "dark and silly night" story. With a brilliant cover by Spiegelman, contributors include: William Joyce, Gahan Wilson, Martin Hanford, Patrick McDonnell, Tony Millionaire, Kaz, Joost Swarte, and Carlos Nine.

Art Spiegelman and Francoise Mouly and many of the contributors will be on hand to sign LITTLE LIT IT WAS A DARK AND SILLY NIGHT as well as Folklore & Fairy Tale Funnies and Strange Stories for Strange Kids, the first two books of short stories, published by Joanna Cotler Books. A show of original art from the books will be on exhibit. All proceeds from the evening will benefit MoCCA. Complimentary beverages and refreshments will be served.

Come to MoCCA for an exhibition of work from LITTLE LIT IT WAS A DARK AND SILLY NIGHT. The exhibit will include artwork from award-winning cartoonists and illustrators Art Spiegelman, William Joyce, Patrick McDonnell, Gahan Wilson, Martin Hanford, Tony Millionaire, Kaz, Joost Swarte, and Carlos, Niner, and R. Sikoryak. The exhibit showcases the works from these contributors.

Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, 32 Union Square East (between 15th & 16th Streets), Suite 600N. Open Mondays & Fridays 11-6, select Saturdays 10-5. Pay-what-you-wish. 212-254-3511 or www.moccany.org for more info. Through 12/31.
