September 15 through October 25th, 2003.

Open to the public!

Come and experience the full diversity of comic and cartoon art as work from the Living Masters of the form join the Fabergé Easter eggs and other incredible artworks on display at the Forbes Galleries, curated by MoCCA.
"I thought the exhibit was masterful, and the event was one of the best I have attended all year. It was beautifully organized, and sane, and the silent auction stuff was great. Over all, a great event."

Dear Friends,

It is a great pleasure to send greetings to all those gathered for the Living Masters of Comic and Cartoon Art Opening Fundraiser and Reception at the Forbes Galleries.

With great thanks to our host Christopher Forbes and emcee Joan Rivers, tonight we are celebrating the full diversity of comic and cartoon art as work from the greatest living practitioners of comic books, comic strips, animation, and political cartooning.

I join Mr. Forbes, Ms. Rivers and the Board of Advisors in commending Lawrence Klein and his vision for the collection, preservation, study, education, and display of comic and cartoon art.

We celebrate and acknowledge the vision, generosity, and dedication of those who make this dream come true for all New Yorkers. It is my hope that this evening of special tribute will be truly memorable and successful.

Sincerely,

Richard J. Schwartz, Chairman
The New York State Council on the Arts
I should be thanking you! I had a blast. Here's to much success, and to the furtherance of the comics medium as a viable vibrant valid art form. Jeez-- those boats, those eggs, and comics - all in the same place. Gotta love it.
